Virtual Networks
Virtual networks refer to computer networks that exist in a software-based or virtualized environment rather than a physical one. This concept involves creating logical network structures that emulate the functionalities of traditional physical networks. In virtual networks, software-defined elements, such as virtual switches, routers, and firewalls, replace their physical counterparts. This allows for greater flexibility and scalability, as virtual networks can be easily configured, modified, or expanded without the need for extensive hardware changes. Virtualization technologies enable the coexistence of multiple independent virtual networks on the same physical infrastructure, providing isolation and security. Virtual networks are prevalent in cloud computing environments, data centers, and modern IT infrastructures, offering efficient resource utilization, dynamic adaptation to changing demands, and simplified network management through software control.
